Attributes...

The peace of God is the awareness that nothing exists in opposition to Spirit’s presence and good will.  It does not seek to deny our belief in conflict and strife but is instead offered as that ever-present alternative in the midst of it.  Wisdom is inherent in the peace of God, and is the driving force that defines the characteristics of enlightened thought.

  • Trust – Trust is the foundational characteristic on which all other traits rest.  We rely on the guiding presence of Spirit for all things.  No other power is reliable.
  • Honesty – Only through honesty do we become aware of our need for Spirit’s consistent guidance. We accept the truth about our experiences.
  • Tolerance – Differing perceptions are part of our experience with each other.  To judge the convictions of others is to impose our will over God’s. We extend peace and good will instead, in the knowledge that all paths lead to God in the end.
  • Gentleness – The strength of God lies in gentleness, which attests that harm poses no real threat to the peace of God. We express fearlessness as we administer gentle kindness.
  • Joy – Joy is the environment of Spirit’s presence.  Joy arises from our sure confidence that all is well.  We are certain of God’s peace.
  • Defenselessness – The peace of God needs no defense. It is always available, unbothered by a world that seems to threaten. We adopt a defenseless posture as we trust Spirit’s guidance.
  • Generosity – We give in order to receive, continuously circulating God’s abundance.  Through Spirit does God’s abundance flow, vibrant and robust, out of the goodness inherent in everyone.
  • Patience – Patience indicates that God’s peace is present.  It comes naturally out of our trust in Spirit’s ability to ensure our efforts result in the experience of good will.
  • Faithfulness – All things are made right through one Power, God the good.  No other power endures. We rest confident in our united Spirit, certain of our purpose.
  • Open-mindedness – We remain open to the Holy Spirit of God in whatever form perceived.  We express forgiveness through open-minded acceptance of our experiences, thus establishing our awareness of Spirit in all things.
